stuff i do

i have many hobbies and interests. keeping busy making and doing stuff helps distract me from my negative thoughts, and gives me a sense of daily accomplishment. these are the main topics that i'm usually writing about.

i like dyeing spinning fibers. usually wool, but sometimes i'll do some silk or alpaca.

sometimes i'll spin the fibers that i dye into yarn.

fall fling handspun scarf

sometimes, but not very often, i'll knit something out of the yarn i made. i don't have a lot of patience for knitting, and frustrated is the opposite of how i want to feel when i'm supposed to be having fun.

i like to bake, but

mixed greens and herb salad with spiced pecans, roasted butternut squash, and pears

i like cooking dinner even more. whenever possible i try to cook everything from scratch, using the least processed ingredients, locally sourced produce, and humanely raised meats. not only does that stuff taste better, but it's way better for you.

i'm a huge gamer! most of my game time is spent playing maple story, but

marvel heroes

i'm also a big fan of marvel heroes, and a variety of current and classic xbox, playstation, and nintendo games.

i like making old-fasioned (lye) soap,


and new fashioned melt and pour (glycerin) soap.

birthday hike

i love new jersey! yeah, you'll run into more than a few assholes, but you'll also be surprised by its unique, amazing beauty. boyfriend and i love to drive around and discover some of the smaller, lesser known parts of the state. i like to take pictures while he drives.

This never happens

i love cats. that's snooki, the old lady (17 years old!), in the window. i lost my baby boy nicholas (the russian blue) in march 2013. he was only 8 years old.


and finally, i love nutrition and fitness. tired of years of being overweight and unhealthy and sick all the time, i took it upon myself to learn how to properly nourish my body (i lost 70 pounds in the process!). when i'm not struggling with energy and motivation, i like to lift weights. i'm definitely a muscle advocate.
